An autopsy has revealed that Ray Lewis III died from an overdose of a lethal drug cocktail including fentanyl and cocaine.

Lewis III, the son of NFL Hall of Famer Ray Lewis, was reported to have died at the age of 28 last month.

According to TMZ Sports, Lewis died from a combination of drugs including fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine. The medical examiner ruled that Lewis III’s death was an accident. Lewis also had alcohol and alprazolam – which is found in Xanax, in his system.

Despite the best efforts of those around him, and the administering of Naloxone, the lethal cocktail appeared to be too much for Lewis III.

Lewis is one of the greatest defensive players to ever grace the NFL. He was a two-time Super Bowl champion with the Baltimore Ravens and appeared in 13 Pro Bowls.

Three of his four sons followed him into the world of football. Rahsaan has played at UCF, FAU, and Kentucky, and recently transferred to Georgia Southern. Meanwhile, Rayshard played at Utah State, Maryland, and Kentucky.

Ray Lewis III was Lewis’ eldest son, and the first to undergo the football journey. He was a standout athlete who played Division I football at multiple schools including his father’s alma mater, Miami. He also played at Coastal Carolina and Virginia Union during his career.
