It looks like a Pro Bowl NFL quarterback is doing his part in trying to recruit Ezekiel Elliott to join his team.

The 28-year-old was released by the Dallas Cowboys in a cap-saving move back in March. Elliott, a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time rushing champion, remains a free agent as teams gear up for preseason play.

On Saturday, it was reported that Elliott was meeting with the New England Patriots. As it turns out, his visit in Foxborough included a dinner with Patriots’ quarterback Mac Jones in Seaport:

Patriots’ head coach Bill Belichick has a long history of bringing in veterans seemingly past their primes, only to help them regain their Pro Bowl-like forms (see Randy Moss, Rodney Harrison and Corey Dillon). So it shouldn’t surprise anybody if Belichick decides to take a chance on Elliott.

Tony Pollard (assigned the franchise tag) finished the 2022 campaign as the Cowboys’ lead rusher. Even though he missed two games and had to share the workload with Pollard, Elliott still finished with 876 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns.

Elliott remains a reliable running back in goal-line situations, and he’s known for his skills as a blocker in the passing game. That’s certainly the type of player that Belichick could use to complement his lead running back in Rhamondre Stevenson.

For his career, Elliott has 8,262 rushing yards and 68 rushing touchdowns.
