BREAKING: Cincinnati Bengals Sign New Quarterback Amid Joe Burrow Injury Concerns
Joe Burrow finished the Bengals’ Week 2 game with soreness in his calf after reaggravating the injury he suffered in July.
The Cincinnati Bengals face the impossible task of what to do with star quarterback Joe Burrow coming out of a loss. One thing that they needed to do was get another quarterback on the team after they only featured one other healthy QB on the roster.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bengals signed Reid Sinnett to the practice squad. He is already familiar with the team after the Bengals released the 26-year-old before last month’s 53-man preseason roster cutdown.
At San Diego, an FCS college program, Sinnett completed 66.9 percent of his passes for 3,528 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions while rushing for 174 and six touchdowns and was named first-team All-PFL and a finalist for the Walter Payton Award.
He went undrafted in 2020. Since then, he has bounced around multiple practice squads for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Miami Dolphins, and Philadelphia Eagles without seeing any NFL action.
He eventually went to the XFL, but suffered a broken foot while playing for the San Antonio Brahmas earlier this year. Sinnett went 13-of-19 for 97 yards, a touchdown, and a pick in his only game.
Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has been noncommittal about playing on Monday night after aggravating a calf strain in Cincinnati’s Week 2 defeat.
Head coach Zac Taylor told the media it is currently “hard to say” if Burrow will be able to suit up for Cincinnati’s Week 3 game against the Rams.
The team is already 0-2 and could ill afford to lose three games to start the year, but Burrow’s long-term health is more important.
