The Lions are reuniting with running back amid injuries to David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs.

With the Detroit Lions missing David Montgomery for the foreseeable future, they’re bringing back a familiar name in Mohamed Ibrahim.

According to his agent Matt Leist, the former Minnesota Golden Gophers running back has been re-signed by the Lions. He’s set to return to the team’s practice squad.

The 25-year-old was initially signed by Detroit as an undrafted free agent this spring. He was trending in the right direction until he suffered an injury in the Lions’ second preseason game.

The Lions will more than likely be rolling with Jahmyr Gibbs as their lead back and Craig Reynolds backing him up.

The five-year member of the Golden Gophers from 2018 to 2022 racked up three 1,000-plus yard seasons during his time at Minnesota. During his last year with the program, 2022, Ibrahim recorded a whopping 1,715 yards from scrimmage.

The Lions will look to move to 6-1 in Week 7 with a win over the Baltimore Ravens.
