Pat McAfee is in his second season as a full-time analyst on “College GameDay” but it may not go further than that.

Over the weekend, McAfee commented on a recent reader survey by The Athletic. McAfee quoted a Chris Vannini post showing that 30.1% of readers who responded like McAfee on GameDay, while 48.9% are not fans and 21% had no opinion.

McAfee revealed that the reaction to his role on “GameDay” has him unsure about committing to the 2024 season. He added he has not re-signed his “GameDay” contract.

“To the 49%, I have some great news,” McAfee said in a post on X. “I have heard you all very loud and clear since the beginning of my stint on GameDay. It’s one of the biggest reasons why I have not re-signed a contract with the legendary show. I’m not right for some crowds and the ‘distinguished’ College Football folks are definitely one of those. Excited to enjoy the rest of this year, that’s shaping up to be a GREAT one, and then see what the future holds,” McAfee continued.

McAfee first began appearing on GameDay in 2019. He was promoted to a full-time role in 2022.

McAfee’s daily weekday show, The Pat McAfee Show, was brought to ESPN from FanDuel earlier this year and has been doing quite well. His daily show and his appearances on GameDay were part of ESPN’s content plan for him.

Now, it sounds as if McAfee’s future on Saturday morning GameDay telecasts may be over after the 2023 season.
