Joe Rogan Says the US Government Would’ve Shut Down Facebook on This Premise
UFC Commentator Joe Rogan can often be seen cage-side giving his two cents on major pay-per-view events. In addition to his stint as a UFC commentator, the 56-year-old runs the world’s most-viewed podcast, The Joe Rogan Show. In his recent episode, the man made a heavy claim on the famous social media networking site Facebook.
The JRE is the most popular podcast for a reason. Rogan often gets into conversations about everything under the sun, promoting free speech. Recently, he made some strong statements about the government.
Joe Rogan’s Facebook claim
In a recent episode with Brian Redban, Joe Rogan and Redban talked about everything, including stand-up comedy, the power of the internet, and the government putting brakes to Facebook. Rogan had an interesting point of view on how the government would deal with Mark Zuckerberg’s social networking site, Facebook if it had known how powerful and influential it would ultimately become. Joe said,
Nobody saw the idea that Facebook could be important to like World elections. Nobody saw that coming. If they did they would have probably put the breaks to it a long time ago.
Rogan claimed that if the government had known how social media would influence the elections, it would have banned it long ago. Social media can often be the most powerful tool in promoting free speech and effectively influencing the decisions of the vast majority.
This was a rather interesting claim made by Joe on his show recently. Rogan is good friends with Elon Musk, the wealthiest man in the world, who promotes free speech using his platform X. Musk has been critical of government intervention in private space several times.
Joe Rogan has been criticized on multiple occasions in recent years for voicing his opinion on controversial left-wing opinions. One of the main reasons the martial arts fanatic is well-respected in the MMA and podcasting world is his belief in free speech and his ability to amplify the power of social media, irrespective of the opinion of powerful political figures. It will be interesting to see if Joe Rogan ever brings out a government official on his show in the near future.
