Ciryl Gane is planned to carry the Olympic flame at the next games. The Paris 2024 multisport tournament is scheduled from July 26 to August 11, 2024.

April 16 was the day of the 2024 Paris Olympics torch lighting ceremony. The spark for the future Games was lit during the Summer Olympics in Greece in 1896.

Once ignited, the Olympic flame is taken to the historic stadium by Hesitate, the priestess guardian of the fire. The priestess then hands it over to the torchbearer. The torchbearer then passes it to a different person, who will also be a national of the host country.

This summer, Paris will host the 2024 Olympic Games. Following tradition, the Olympic torch will be relayed through the host nation’s borders before the opening ceremony. The UFC’s best French fighter, Gane, has been chosen to participate in the relay as an honorary torchbearer, “Bon Gamin” said on Instagram on Saturday.

Since defeating Sergey Spivak via technical knockout at the UFC Paris event in the fall, Gane, 34, has not participated in any competitions. Later this year, when the promotion returns to Gay Paree, the Parisian is anticipated to return to Accor Arena. While he’s at the venue, hopefully, “Bon Gamin” will have someone house-sit.

Gane (12-2) is presently rated No. 2 in the heavyweight class, one spot ahead of Sergei Pavlovich but behind Tom Aspinall.

The 2024 Olympic Torch Relay got underway in Marseille on Thursday, May 9, and it will travel across France for the next eleven weeks until the Olympic Games begin on July 26. This year, about 10,000 athletes, volunteers, and other notable individuals will carry the Olympic flame for an average of 200 meters. In the twenty-fourth leg of the relay, Gane will carry a torch from the Deux-Sèvres region to Les Sables-d’Olonne.
