“Excited to Go Back Home”- Jayson Tatum Envisions TD Garden’s Loudest Night During Game 5
The Boston Celtics came very close to closing the NBA Finals series. But game four did not go as they had anticipated. After facing a disastrous 122-84 loss on the road, their ace Jayson Tatum stated his expectations of the Celtics fans.
While speaking to the media in the post-game press conference, Tatum was asked about his expectations for the following game against the Dallas Mavericks. The Boston forward replied, “I think it’s going to be as loud as it’s ever been in my seven years of being a Celtic.” Further revealing his plans, Tatum added, “I’m excited to go back home, celebrate Father’s Day on Sunday and compete for a championship on Monday. It should be a lot of fun.”
The two teams will return to the TD Garden for their fifth encounter. The Mavericks lost their first two games partly because of the crowd’s distractions. They know how impactful the fan base’s boos and chants are on Mavs’ Kyrie Irving. Tatum wants them to be louder than he heard in his NBA career, which he believes would work in the Celtics’ favor.
Kyrie and Luka Doncic were the highest contributors for the Mavs, adding 21 and 29 points to the win. Conversely, no one could chip in more than 15 points for the Celtics, Tatum being their highest scorer.
If the Mavs put up the same show they did on Friday in the remaining three games, then the Celtics would need their fans to do the extra bit to hold them back. When the home team made a comeback at the American Airlines Center, the Celtics struggled to keep their feet. Tatum knew the exact reason for that.
Jayson Tatum Details Reason for Game 4 Struggles
After the game ended, Jayson Tatum was asked in the press conference how the tide turned. The Celtics didn’t let the Mavericks cross 100 in the previous series of games. They couldn’t manage to cross 90 points in Game 4.
Sharing his game analysis, Tatum stated, “I think it starts on the defensive end for us. We didn’t get many stops. So they were allowed to set their defense up, and just naturally, when you’re scoring at a high rate, you feel good about yourself.”
Since Tatum already knows the issue, the five-time All-Star and his team will definitely try to fix it by Monday so that they can quickly march towards victory by winning one last game.
