Rodtang Next Fight: ONE Championship Announces Ironman’s Next Opponent
November 8, 2024—that’s the date set for Rodtang ‘The Iron Man’ Jitmuangnon’s next fight. The Thai megastar will defend his ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title at ONE 169: Atlanta. Having been champion since August 2, 2019, the 26-year-old will have the opportunity to extend his title reign for an even longer period. Interestingly, he last fought in the MMA cage back at the ONE 167.
According to ONE Championship’s recent announcement, ‘The Ironman’ will face Jacob Smith in the upcoming ONE 169: Atlanta. State Farm Arena will host the upcoming combat sports event. This is also the first time the MMA promotion will be visiting Atlanta and also the third time in the United States.
While Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Jacob Smith will fight in the co-main event, Anatoly Malykhin and Oumar Kane are reportedly set to headline the ONE 169: Atlanta. If the reports are true, Kane could face the ONE dual champion Malykhin for the ONE Heavyweight World Championship title in the main event.
Jacob Smith Previously Faced Rodtang in Unsuccesful Title Shot
While ‘The Iron Man’ and Smith will be up against each other at the ONE 169: Atlanta, it’s not the first time they will fight in the MMA cage. The two fighters were initially supposed to face each other at the ONE on TNT 1 in April 2021. However, an injury forced Smith to withdraw, and Australian fighter Danial Williams replaced him in a losing cause.
Two years ago, on May 20, 2022, the British fighter faced Rodtang for his Flyweight Muay Thai championship belt. After three rounds, ‘The Ironman’ won the bout via a unanimous decision.
Jacob Smith has his chance to settle the scores against Rodtang this coming November at ONE 169: Atlanta. The 31-year-old has the ability to end the latter’s title reign. Will he be able to do that, or will ‘The Iron Man’ defend his title for yet another time? Stay tuned to find that out.
