Francis Ngannou Open To Fight Deontay Wilder In Boxing – “Don’t Be Delusional”
Stories like Francis Ngannou have inspired the whole world, from working in sand mines in Cameroon to becoming a global superstar, and they are absolutely wonderful to watch. ‘The Predator’ has consistently proven his fighting prowess, stepping up every time he has fought. After he put on a show against Tyson Fury and faced a tough loss to Anthony Joshua, Ngannou has named Deontay Wilder as his next possible opponent.
During a recent media chat with TalkSport, Ngannou talked about a potential clash with Wilder. When pressed about the opportunity, Ngannou was totally down, saying he wanted a fair fight against Wilder. So, if they squared off, it would be in the boxing ring rather than in an MMA cage.
He said, “Absolutely, I would love that fight. Pure boxing. Don’t be delusional here, [boxing] is where we will both stand a chance. If we go mixed martial arts, only one man stands a chance. A fight is never too easy but close to too easy.”
Ngannou has undoubtedly impressed fans with his boxing skills, especially when he knocked Tyson Fury down. However, despite the debate over the loss, he couldn’t showcase his brilliance against Joshua and ended up losing decisively. Meanwhile, Ngannou is not yet calling it quits on boxing—he is eyeing a fight with Wilder as a solid next step. For now, though, he is focusing on his first-ever MMA fight following his UFC exit.
Francis Ngannou Set To Make His PFL Debut Against Renan Ferreira
‘The Predator‘ is still regarded as one of the scariest MMA fighters out there. However, it has been almost two years since he last stepped into the cage. His last fight was against Ciryl Gane in 2022. After leaving the UFC and joining PFL, fans are buzzing to see him back in action.
Ngannou is ready to fight Renan Ferreira on October 19, and the hype is off the charts. Especially, after Ferreira’s controversial comments, which many saw as an insult to Ngannou. Even without the drama, the fight would still generate excitement, given Ngannou’s reputation as a knockout artist. Indeed, it will be interesting to see how he makes his comeback after a two-year break from MMA.
