UFC News: Belal Muhammad Reacts To Kamaru Usman Possibly Facing Him Next For Welterweight Title
Trash-talking on social media has become a new form of promotion that many fighters use before their bouts to build excitement. While some fighters genuinely hold grudges against each other, these exchanges on social media serve as a source of entertainment for fans. Recently, Belal Muhammad mocked Kamaru Usman’s training video on social media. Notably, Usman could possibly be Muhammad’s next opponent for the welterweight title.
Since Muhammad claimed the welterweight title, fans have been buzzing about his next opponent, with many suggesting it should be Usman, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare.’ After Muhammad’s victory over Leon Edwards at UFC 304, Usman took to social media to mock the new champion, repeatedly calling out, ‘Remember the Name.’
In response to a fan who reposted a recent training video of Usman, speculating that he was preparing for a potential title fight, Muhammad replied, “He’s gonna need more gear than that.”
Muhammad has expressed interest in fighting again this year, but no confirmation about his next bout has been made. It is noteworthy that Usman and welterweight star Shavkat Rakhmonov are both seeking a title shot.
Shavkat Rakhmonov Seeks Title Shot Against Belal Muhammad
Rakhmonov recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to assert his claim for a title shot against Muhammad. In his tweet, Rakhmonov highlighted his perfect undefeated record of 18-0 with 100% finishes, stating,
“18-0 with 100% finishes or 0-3 in the last three fights. I think there should be no question who fights next for the title.”
The welterweight division is currently chaotic, with many fighters eager for a title shot. Given the strong cases made by ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ and Rakhmonov, it’s uncertain which fighter the UFC matchmakers will choose for the next title opportunity. The future of the division remains unclear.
