The UFC has no shortage of superstars known for their trash-talking skills, from Chael Sonnen to Conor McGregor, and the list goes on. It’s not just the male fighters either; many women are also recognized for their trash talk. One of them is former UFC champ Julianna Pena. Ahead of her upcoming fight against Raquel Pennington, Pena took a shot at her opponent during the press conference, belittling her.

At the press conference, Pena was asked if she ever envisioned Pennington holding the championship belt when she joined the UFC. She simply replied, “No.” Pena believes she wants this opportunity more, stating that the championship belt means more to her than it does to Pennington. She also added that it’s obvious when comparing the two side-by-side she is a big face for the women’s division.

Ex-UFC Champ stated, “Raquel has not been a good representation of the women’s bantamweight division. She has not promoted. She has constantly done everything that she can to avoid being the face of women’s MMA.

It will certainly be interesting to see if Pena can bounce back after her 2022 loss to Amanda Nunes. With two years since her last fight, the question remains whether the time off will impact her performance or make her stronger. The answer will come on October 5th, when she tries to take the belt from Pennington.

Julianna Pena Thinks Amanda Nunes Will Return from Retirement to Compete in a Trilogy Match

As UFC 307 approaches, Peña looks beyond the fight and considers her future. She believes Amanda Nunes won’t stay retired for long. Adding to that she thinks Nunes still has that competitive fire, and her desire to prove she’s still the best might lure her back into the octagon for another showdown, driven by a mix of jealousy and pride.

As per her, “I’m hoping Amanda will want to come out of retirement, and I’m betting she will be there, and she’ll be watching very intently. I don’t believe she is truly as done as she claims as she is. And I think that she misses the sport.

While Pena considers her future, she remains fully focused on her upcoming fight against Pennington, whom she doesn’t believe represents the best of MMA. To prove herself and secure a title shot against Nunes, Pena knows she must first win in Salt Lake City. However, it won’t be an easy task, especially considering how well Pennington has fought recently.
