Shohei Ohtani has decided to join his teammates at the White House to celebrate their 2024 World Series victory. The Los Angeles Dodgers superstar confirmed his plans while speaking to Japanese media, ending speculation about his participation in the event.

The Dodgers, who recently secured their championship win over the New York Yankees, will visit President Donald Trump at the White House on April 7. Ohtani’s decision extends beyond baseball. As one of the sport’s biggest global stars, fans analyze his every move, especially in Japan, where he enjoys near-iconic status. His choice to attend the White House visit could spark discussions among his massive international fanbase.

Some commentators have already speculated about how history will perceive this moment. Hernández noted, “Ohtani’s the one that has to be worried here. There’s going to be a picture out there with Shohei Ohtani and Donald Trump and, as unfavorably as Trump is viewed right now, I have a feeling it’s going to look worse 20, 30 years from now.”

Despite any potential controversy, the Dodgers plan to focus on celebrating their title in Washington, D.C. Along with their White House visit, team members will meet with lawmakers on Capitol Hill the following day, April 8.

Ohtani remains focused on baseball and celebrating a historic season with his team. Whether his visit will have any lasting impact beyond the sport remains uncertain.
