Angel Reese was pleased to see her team make what appears to be a great trade ahead of the WNBA Draft.

The Chicago Sky forward is heading into her second term out of college after an impressive rookie season in which she averaged a double-double in points and rebounds (13.6 PPG and 13.1 RPG).

The former LSU star finished second in the Rookie of the Year voting – though it hardly seems like it, given that she only received one vote – and was also unfortunate to see her first season cut short by a wrist injury.

Reese returned to the court in the offseason as she was one of the WNBA stars who played basketball for the startup Unrivaled women’s league. While a hand injury kept her out of the playoffs, she’s reportedly back in training.

With her WNBA team having missed the playoffs last season, finishing bottom of the Eastern Conference, they’re keen on avoiding a repeat and, as such, pulled off a significant trade on Sunday.

The Chicago Sky has acquired the Minnesota Lynx’s first-round pick for this year in exchange for their 2026 first-rounder.

“Minnesota trades its 2025 first-round draft pick (#11 overall) to Chicago in exchange for Chicago’s 2026 first-round draft pick,” the team announced

This means Chicago will pick at Nos. 10 and 11 on Monday night, having also landed a first-round pick from the Connecticut Sun.

Angel Reese Had A Seemingly Curious Reaction

Reese’s first post after the trade left little doubt that she was making a reference to it despite the fact that it only consisted of three emojis.

It appears she’s pretty excited about her team’s business.

Time will tell how the move impacts their 2025 season, but Chicago is showing intent.

They will tip off their season against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on May 17.
