Cleveland Browns Draft Bust Is Getting A Second Chance With The Dallas Cowboys

A 2022 NFL Draft pick is set for another opportunity in the league after flaming out as a bust. According to KPRC’s Aaron Wilson, Perrion Winfrey, a former defensive tackle for the Cleveland Browns, is going to play for the Dallas Cowboys in 2025 if all goes according to plan.
Winfrey, a fourth-round pick for the Browns, showed lots of potential and flashes of brilliance after getting drafted but had some trouble off the field. The team cut ties after 13 games, waiving him in July of 2023 following an investigation into an incident in which he was reported to have made threats to a woman with a firearm.
After getting cut by the Browns, Winfrey joined the New York Jets practice squad and appeared in one game before signing with the Birmingham Stallions in the UFL. Last season, he recorded 29 tackles, two of them for loss, and a sack, earning an All-UFL selection.
Perrion Winfrey Familiar With Cowboys Coaching Staff

He will now have an opportunity to get himself in an NFL rotation and will hope to impress in training camp, with the Cowboys needing depth at defensive tackle.
Winfrey is familiar with some of the Cowboys’ coaching staff, having worked with new defensive line coach Aaron Whitecotton while with the Jets. He is also set to link up with former NY teammate Solomon Thomas, whom Dallas signed earlier this year.
The Cowboys had trouble stopping the run last season, so they will be keen on seeing players like Perrion Winfrey succeed. They also drafted two tackles, Jay Toia and Tommy Akingbesote, earlier this year, while they have re-signed Osa Odighizuwa.
Whether he makes the 53-man roster is left to be seen.
