With Anthony Richardson out during the minicamp, Daniel Jones will be getting “a lot of reps” with the Colts offense.

What does that mean for him going forward?

Jones hasn’t had the cleanest NFL career, putting up 14,582 passing yards, 70 touchdown tosses, and 47 picks. He’s also fumbled the football a whopping 50 times in 69 starts, along with taking 208 sacks.

There is an off chance that Jones won’t see the field if Richardson can play all 17 games and avoid injuries. However, this is highly unlikely, given that one of Richardson’s top weaknesses is simply staying healthy.

Jones was signed to the Minnesota Vikings’ squad after his time with the Giants but didn’t see any playing time. Now, he’s with the Indianapolis Colts, and things may change a lot for him.

Now, Daniel Jones will have another shot at being a starting quarterback in the NFL and prove that he has more left to offer.

“There’s seemingly a new sheriff in town,” Angela Moryan of WISH-TV stated after the injury news broke.

“The Horseshoe prepares to kick off veteran minicamp on Tuesday with Daniel Jones taking the majority — if not all — the starting quarterback reps as Anthony Richardson is sidelined with a right shoulder injury.”

That is huge news for Jones.

Daniel Jones does have talent—there’s no questioning that—but it hasn’t translated to efficient quarterbacking or wins outside of the 2022 season, which saw him lead New York to the playoffs while adding a Wild Card victory.

He just needs to put it all together to show the world what he can do.

The Indianapolis Colts generated headlines this offseason by signing disgraced New York Giants former first-round pick Daniel Jones.

After ending the season as a member of the Minnesota Vikings, he is now operating on a one-year, $14 million deal in Indy.

With Richardson’s shoulder injury, this could pave the way for him to be the starter.

Richardson might be wildly inaccurate, but he does boast a winning record under center despite playing on 15 out of 34 possible games through two seasons.

Jones has a career record of 24-44-1, with his last two seasons being disastrous with a 3-13 record.
