Cam Thomas entered the 2025 NBA offseason as a restricted free agent, leading several NBA analysts to speculate about potential landing spots for him. Amid a contract standoff with the Brooklyn Nets, an unexpected frontrunner has emerged in the race to sign Thomas.

According to the recent odds by Bovada, the Detroit Pistons are the favourites to land Cam Thomas.

“Detroit Pistons +350, Charlotte Hornets +400, Chicago Bulls +400, Memphis Grizzlies +400, Orlando Magic +650, Utah Jazz +650, Washington Wizards +650,” via Bovada.

The Pistons delivered outstanding performances during the 2024-25 NBA season, which secured them a spot in the postseason. However, their quest for the championship fell short in the first round of the playoffs against the New York Knicks. The addition of Thomas could have a positive impact on the team in the upcoming season.

Recently, NBA insider Zach Lowe sparked controversy by claiming that, despite his impressive performance, Thomas’s overall contributions might not have a major impact on the team’s success. Thomas quickly responded to Lowe’s remarks. Meanwhile, an anonymous coach from the Brooklyn Nets expressed strong opinions about Thomas.

“We love Cam. We think he’s one of the best scoring guards in the league and an underrated playmaker. We’ll see what happens, but our feelings about Cam as a player and person have never wavered. We love him,” an anonymous coach from the Brooklyn Nets said to Keith Smith.

During the 2024–25 NBA season, Thomas put on stellar performances for the Brooklyn Nets. He played 25 games for the Nets, starting in 23 of them. He averaged 24.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. Unfortunately, on March 15, 2025, he was ruled out for the rest of the season due to a left hamstring strain.
