Steve Kerr Reveals What Made Stephen Curry The Ultimate Closer For Team USA

The USA men’s basketball team dominated everyone at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The roster featured superstars such as LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant. After overpowering several strong opponents, Team USA secured the gold medal.
While each player made significant contributions to the team’s success, head coach Steve Kerr highlighted what made Stephen Curry the ultimate closer for Team USA. During the recent appearance on the Glue Guys Podcast, Kerr gave high praise to Curry.
“First of all, I refer to him as Stephen motherfucking Curry. Because that’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you see him do this stuff. It’s like, holy sh-t. Nobody has that mindset, nobody. Even on a team with some of the all-time greats, they were all deferring to him, and he was chasing the ball. It’s the most amazing mindset I’ve ever seen. Michael had a similar mindset, but Michael’s mindset seemed to come more from a desire to kill the opponent, to just stick the knife in and twist it,” Kerr said.
Curry put on a stellar display for Team USA. He concluded the 2024 Paris Olympics as the team’s leading scorer, averaging 14.8 points per game. He also set an Olympic record for the most three-pointers made in a final. For his outstanding performances, Curry won the 2024 USA Basketball 5-on-5 Male Athlete of the Year award.
Steve Kerr Highlights Stephen Curry’s Exceptional Talent On The Court

Kerr and Curry have built a strong bond over the years. Kerr has been Curry’s coach for the Golden State Warriors for a decade, and this partnership is set to continue in the coming years. During a recent conversation on the Glue Guys Podcast, Kerr expressed high praise for Curry, emphasising his impressive basketball skills.
“Steph’s is more about the joy of the act of shooting a ball, and that’s what makes it so beautiful to watch Steph. He’s an artist out there who loves what he does so much, and there’s this flow, grace, and beauty combined with incredible competitive desire and confidence to take every shot and not worry about the repercussions,” Kerr said.
Curry averaged 24.5 points, 6.0 assists, and 4.4 rebounds in 70 games in the 2024-25 NBA season.
