WFAN Host Names The Perfect Yankees Manager That Fans Will Love

The New York Yankees are still stuck in a frustrating season, and the heat on manager Aaron Boone isn’t cooling down. Fans and pundits have questioned his leadership, especially as the team continues to underperform despite its $300 million payroll. Chris “Mad Dog” Russo recently called Boone only the eighth-best manager in MLB, suggesting several candidates he believes would do a better job.
Now, another bold suggestion has entered the conversation. WFAN radio host Evan Roberts has thrown out a familiar name that he believes could be the perfect manager for the Yankees.
On the WFAN Sports Radio show, Roberts named former Yankees star Alex Rodriguez as Aaron Boone’s perfect replacement.
“I got a guy who lives and breathes baseball,” Roberts said. “A guy who knows what it’s like to be in New York. All you Yankee fans love to bring up Don Mattingly and Derek Jeter. Come on, stop with that crap. A-Rod’s the guy.”

Roberts added that Rodriguez’s media experience, deep knowledge of the game, and understanding of pressure will make him a perfect fit for the Yankees.
“The media knows how to handle him, and he knows players better than anybody. I know it sounds crazy at first, but it makes sense,” Roberts said.
Yankees Veteran Announcer Blasts Aaron Boone Amid Yankees’ Slump

On Thursday, another Yankees veteran took on Boone and questioned his decision-making after the team’s loss to the Minnesota Twins. Bronx Bombers’ play-by-play announcer Michael Kay ripped Boone for his decision to go with De Los Santos, which resulted in a loss.
“I don’t know why they went to De Los Santos. Aaron explained it after the game, ‘Well we felt it was a proper lane for him’–Stop! Who’s your best pitcher? Who’s the better pitcher that you can bring in? Every single pitcher in the bullpen was available last night? Who’s your best? Who’s your best to pitch the sixth inning?” Kay said on his ESPN radio show.
While fans are demanding Boone’s sacking, the boardroom is still showing faith in the Yankees manager. However, with the team’s playoff hopes hanging by a thread, Boone’s margin for error is shrinking fast. Another losing skid could push ownership to finally reconsider their stance.
