Chicago Bulls star Coby White made his mark on the franchise with his elite basketball skills. Yet, his path was not smooth. After starting many games early in his career, White spent two seasons mostly coming off the bench, and his scoring dropped. However, White bounced back last season and played some of the best basketball of his career.

The Chicago Bulls had a busy offseason with Josh Giddey’s contract standoff this summer. The franchise will need to make tough moves to keep its best players and build a strong team for the future. White’s presence could boost their performance with the other talents in the rotation.

Coby White has a profound love for basketball. He credits his game for keeping him on the right track growing up. In a recent interview, he talked about the impact of basketball on his life. “I remember while growing up the people I was hanging around with when I got to about 14, 13 started getting involved with gangs and stuff like that,” White said.

Coby White faces a big year ahead as he will become a free agent in 2026. The Bulls value him and want to keep him, but there is also talk about trading some players. Whether he stays with the Bulls or not, he must stick to basketball as long as he can lead the court.

White’s journey in the league had so many ups and downs. He played different roles, including starter, bench player, and point guard, in the Bulls’ core. But whatever happened, even in the pressured situation, he never gave up and stayed confident in what he could be.

“I never really thought, ‘This is who I am, starter, off the bench,” White was saying following Bulls practice on Tuesday. Coach always calls me stubborn because for me… you have goals and you have dreams, and it was always hard for me to just sit back and say,” Coby White said.  “Even when people try to put me in a certain position, try to tell me what my ceiling is, what I could become, I was always stubborn in trying to prove them wrong and there were moments, ‘Yeah, right here, right now to help the team I’ve got to buy into being this type of player.

The Bulls are moving forward with a rebuilding process after landing a secure deal with Josh Giddey. Now, with Coby White’s role as a main player, the team could find a strong scoring support for a strong playoff run.
