The UFC has a long history of fighters retiring only to return when their competitive urge pulls them back to the Octagon. From Henry Cejudo to Amanda Nunes, many legendary names have made comebacks. Now, Jon Jones is also teasing a return at the White House card. However, UFC veteran Corey Anderson doesn’t seem convinced that Jones will ever fight again, suggesting this is just his way of staying relevant.

On the Ariel Helwani show, Anderson said that he doesn’t think Jones will fight again. He said Jones has already done everything in the sport, made his money, and beaten top fighters. Coming back now would only risk losing to a younger fighter, which could hurt his legacy. Instead, Anderson thinks Jones is just keeping his name in the news to stay relevant and grow his brand.

He said, “I don’t think [Jon Jones] is gonna come back. I think he’s doing what he’s got to do to keep his name in the media. I don’t see why he would. For what? You got all that money, you’ve done it all already. You’ve already beat everybody. Why come back and take a chance of losing to this new young gun that they already saying can beat you? And you go out there and lose, and now everybody was right.

However, Jones, who retired without facing Tom Aspinall, has repeatedly said he wants to fight next year on the UFC White House card. But like Anderson, UFC President Dana White isn’t buying it and instead wants Conor McGregor to headline.

At the UFC 318 post-fight press conference, Dana White, long known for his support of Jones, made it clear he won’t risk putting him in a major spot like the White House card. White explained that while he respects the former UFC double champ, the uncertainty surrounding him makes it too risky to feature him in such a high-profile event.

Given how many fighters have returned from retirement, it will be interesting to see if Jon Jones becomes the next. Despite his dominant career that made Dana White one of his biggest supporters, the UFC boss still doesn’t fully trust him because of Jones’ history of controversies and unpredictability outside the Octagon.
