“Pressure Is On”: Derek Jeter Declares Game 2 A Must-Win After Los Angeles Dodgers’ Collapse

The Los Angeles Dodgers walked into Toronto looking like a freaking dynasty in motion. Four straight playoff wins, a clean sweep over Milwaukee, and an offense firing on cue. Everything screamed repeat champions. Then Friday night happened. An 11-4 loss to the Blue Jays changed it all, and suddenly, the champs looked mortal.
We won’t just call Game 1 a bad night. It was more of a wake-up call. The Blue Jays poured in nine runs in one inning and dismantled L.A.’s rhythm. Now, as the World Series continues, the Dodgers find themselves in a spot they haven’t been in all postseason – playing from behind. And for Derek Jeter, that changes everything.
“Now, for the first time, pressure is on the Los Angeles Dodgers,” Jeter said on “Fox Sports” after Game 1. “Tomorrow night is a must-win. You do not want to go down to a team like this having to win four out of five.”

L.A. had coasted through October, with manager Dave Roberts even joking they might really ruin baseball with another title.
“I don’t feel like I’m the villain. I was just poking fun at some people that said the Dodgers were ruining baseball. Clearly, I don’t believe that,” Roberts had said.
However, after Friday’s meltdown, does that swagger not feel shaky? That said, Blue Jays vs. Dodgers Game 2 is gonna be all about survival. Because if Toronto goes up 2-0, this World Series might be over before L.A. can find its footing.
Toronto Blue Jays Dominate Los Angeles Dodgers in Historic Game 1 Grand Slam Barrage

L.A. started strong, jumping to a 2-0 lead by the third inning, but Toronto’s bats woke up fast. Daulton Varsho’s two-run shot tied things in the fourth, and then the Jays blew the game open with a nine-run sixth. Addison Barger made history, launching the first pinch-hit grand slam in World Series history.
Shohei Ohtani answered with his first career Fall Classic homer in the seventh, but it wasn’t enough. The Dodgers will now turn to Yoshinobu Yamamoto in Game 2 tonight, facing Kevin Gausman.
