Angel Reese and The Chicago Sky Had Tension In 2025
Reese was suspended by the Chicago Sky for a game in September. It was due to “statements detrimental to the team.” These comments included criticisms of teammates and team facilities, for which she later apologized.
In the weeks following, she would show how much she wanted to get away from the franchise. Once she was drafted, she changed her nickname to “Chi-Town Barbie.” The nickname became popular after she was drafted by the Chicago Sky and was highlighted on the team’s official social media accounts, including Instagram.
After her suspension, she removed that name. Reese was even accused of faking injuries to avoid playing for the team.
A WNBA executive has even urged Reese to request a trade from the Chicago Sky this offseason. “She needs to get the hell out of there,” the WNBA exec told DallasHoopsJournal.
WNBA star Angel Reese returned to the Unrivaled 3-on-3 league last month. She joined Rose BC as a mid-season addition and immediately contributed with averages of over 13 points and 10 rebounds per game. The inaugural 2025 Defensive Player of the Year helped make the team competitive after its rough start. Unfortunately, the team was not good enough to win the title for the second straight season.
Off the court, she has been making waves in the world of fashion. Reese has established herself as a major fashion icon in professional sports. She became the first WNBA player to walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Reese was also featured on the winter 2025 cover of Vogue.
Now the next time she gets on the court, it’ll be with the Atlanta Dream.
