Daniel Cormier skeptical about Jon Jones

Some rivalries never really end. They just find new stages. Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier is one of those rivalries. What started as a discussion about DC’s coaching credentials quickly turned into something far more familiar between these two. When DC tried to dismiss Jones’ win, the former champion defended himself with a decent argument.

Jones drew first blood by questioning the logic of Cormier advising anyone on how to beat him. DC didn’t absorb it quietly. He came right back, and he went straight for the failed drug test that has followed Jones around for years. Seems like Jones was ready with his answer already.

Their exchange went like, “How does Daniel suggest that someone can beat me, when HE couldn’t?” Jones said. “200cm height, 8 years youth difference, still so insecure that he stuck a needle in his a**. Still so insecure,” DC replied. Subsequently, Jones defended himself, saying, “A lot of men in this room use steroids. Steroids don’t allow you to predict a headkick one year before it happens.”

Jones had famously called his finish of Cormier at UFC 214 a head kick knockout before it happened. Whatever fans think about his history with USADA, no substance on earth tells you where a punch or kick is going to land twelve months down the line. That part of the argument is genuinely difficult to dismiss. Meanwhile, both have already said they are not interested in mending fences.

Jon Jones Shuts Down Peace Attempt With Daniel Cormier At ALF Reality

Earlier, at ALF reality, a fighter tried to play peacemaker between Jones and Cormier, suggesting they follow each other and maybe move toward a friendly equation. The idea didn’t land. Jones shut it down immediately, while Cormier made it clear he’s comfortable keeping things exactly as they are.

“Maybe we can become friends. Follow each other if possible. You’re stars. Yes, I’d be very happy if that happens. Everything goes through him (Translated in English),” a fighter said, asking DC and Jones. To which Jones said no, and Cormier replied, “Our relationship is fine as it is.”

Years after their rivalry defined a UFC era, nothing has changed. There’s no connection, no friendly moments. They still don’t get along. And they don’t seem to care about fixing it.
