The Buffalo Bills have announced that they will not honor the late OJ Simpson at their new Highmark Stadium.

The team is set to honor its legends in a family circle outside its new grounds. They will include players from the current Wall of Fame, except for Simpson.

“We have made an organizational decision that he is not a fit to display inside our new stadium and family circle,” Bills president of business operations Pete Guelli said on Saturday, per ESPN

The Bills made Simpson the No. 1 overall pick in 1969, and he spent nine years playing for them. He became the first running back in NFL history to record 2,000 yards in a single season in 1973 (2,003).

Simpson passed away after a battle with prostate cancer in 2024 at the age of 76.

The Bills did not acknowledge his death.

Buffalo made the five-time All-Pro its first-ever Wall of Fame player. However, he will not join other legends in the upcoming move.

He also remains in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, with both placements often the cause of debate.

Simpson was the chief suspect in the 1994 stabbing deaths of his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. He was charged with the murders and later acquitted.

Nicole Brown’s sister recently asked the NFL to ban his No.32 jersey

Civil proceedings subsequently determined he was liable for the deaths in a civil case.
