Geno Smith Gets Surprising New Update After Assault Arrest, And It’s Not Good

There’s an update in the Geno Smith battery case that the returning New York Jets quarterback is not going to like.
Smith received a lifeline from his old team after it appeared he was dead in the water on the back of a torrid spell in Vegas. But his new lease may very well be on hold following some new developments.
Police got called to Smith’s home in Davie, Florida, on Sunday, with a woman named “Kristen” accusing him of battery.
The alleged victim claimed Smith beat her, ran out after her, broke her computer and took money from her car. She posted a video to social media showing a shirtless Smith speaking to someone on the phone.
“She just called the police, this is crazy,” he says in the clip.
Reports noted that police spoke to the parties but didn’t make an arrest.

It appeared that was the end of it after ESPN’s Rich Cimini cited a spokesperson from the Davie Police Department who said there was no active investigation.
“It is not an active case, but is still being reviewed before (a report) can be released,” Cimini relayed.
Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic has since reported that the case is now active.
“Checked in with the Davie Police this morning for an update,” Rosenblatt wrote on Tuesday. “Their response: “This case has been assigned to a detective and is currently an active investigation. We are not releasing any additional information at this time.”
Smith has not commented on the matter, nor have the Jets.
There is concern about his future with the team following the latest report. Should the NFL determine that he should be disciplined under its personal conduct policy, the Jets would have to look to someone else to start for them at QB.
