Wyndham Clark finally cleared up a mystery that followed him for nearly a decade.
The PGA Tour star appeared on the June 24 episode of Barstool Sports’ “Pardon My Take” and explained a 2016 social media post that caught attention over the years. In the post, Clark wrote, “I hate Baker Mayfield.”
After winning his second US Open title, Clark seemed more willing to laugh about old stories from his past. During the podcast appearance, the hosts asked him about the old tweet. Clark responded with a personal story that surprised many listeners.
“I’m trying to decide if I should tell the story — screw it, I don’t care, people already hate me,” Clark said. “My girlfriend at the time cheated on me with Baker Mayfield.”
The revelation gave context to the years-old post and explained why Clark hated Baker Mayfield specifically at that time.
Clark Says He Has Moved On
Clark made it clear that he no longer holds any ill feelings toward the longtime NFL quarterback.
“Here’s what I’ll say: As I have come to — I’m actually a Baker fan now, I think he’s a homie,” Clark said. “That’s your initial response, screw that guy, but it’s really it’s, you know, screw your girlfriend. I’m a Baker fan now, but that’s where it came from.”
Clark said his perspective changed over time, and he now views the situation differently and no longer blames Mayfield.

In fact, the golfer hopes the two can laugh about it someday.
“I hope this is a bro moment for us to be like ‘Oh, bro, I didn’t know. My bad. She never told me,'” Clark said. “And I’ll tell him, ‘It’s all good, we’re homies, let’s play golf.’ That’s where I hope it comes from.”
While Clark looked back on an old relationship, he also appears happy in his current one.
His girlfriend, Emily Tanner, stood by his side during his US Open win at Shinnecock Hills. After Clark secured the championship with a par on the final hole, Tanner rushed onto the green to celebrate with him.
The couple continued the celebration the next day in New York City while Clark handled media appearances following the win.
Tanner also shared her excitement on Instagram. She praised Clark’s achievement and wrote, “The most deserving. You did it!! Love you so much.”
For Clark, the old story involving Mayfield is now more of a funny memory than a real grudge.
