A former college soccer star has died following a single-vehicle crash in Nashville. Savannah Stair, 28, lost her life after her vehicle overturned late Friday night. The Middle Tennessee State University community quickly shared its condolences.
This follows after two other college soccer stars tragically died. Kayla Saager-Beckley, a feared striker for Binghamton University, unexpectedly passed away in Tulsa, Oklahoma, earlier this month.
Georgia College & State University mourned the loss of forward Isabella “Izzy” Sause, who spent more than two years in treatment for a rare melanoma.
Police identified Stair as the driver in the MetroCenter-area accident. She was a standout defender during her four years with the Blue Raiders.
Crash Details and Immediate Response
Savannah Stair was driving a Toyota 4Runner eastbound on Great Circle Road around 11 p.m. on September 18. The vehicle ran off the road at a curve, struck a curb, and overturned. First responders transported her to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she later died.
Authorities reported no indications of impairment at the scene. The Metro Nashville Police Department continues its investigation into the single-vehicle incident.
The MTSU women’s soccer program announced the news on Sunday.
“We are saddened to share the passing of former Blue Raider Savannah Stair. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this time,” the team posted.

Stair starred at Sevier County High School, earning all-district honors three times. She joined the Blue Raiders in 2016 and contributed through the 2019 season. As a junior she started every game on the backline and logged 1,608 minutes. She appeared in 14 contests during her senior year, starting five.
