Terrifying Gunfire Erupts During Live TV Interview As High School Football Players Run For Cover [VIDEO]

A high school football celebration turned scary in Pittsburgh on Thursday night when gunfire broke out right during a postgame interview. Players and fans moved for cover as multiple shots went off near George K. Cupples Stadium.
Westinghouse had just beaten University Prep 35-0 when the panic started. Winning players were talking on camera with Pittsburgh’s 22 The Point about the win when loud bangs echoed from just outside the venue. The interview stopped as players and others rushed away from the area.
Police said three teenagers were shot during the incident: two boys and one girl. All three were rushed to a local hospital, and Pittsburgh Police Chief Jason Lando confirmed they are in stable condition.
Police Search For Suspect After Shooting

Lando said the shooting happened outside the game on Carson Street. Several fights had broken out as the crowd left the stadium. Police officers from the city and Port Authority worked to move people away from the area and break up the fights.
Then, according to Lando, a man pulled out a firearm and fired several rounds.
“As the game ended, there was a large crowd out here on Carson Street,” Lando told local media. “A couple of fights broke out. We had multiple officers from the city and Port Authority that were on the scene, helping to just facilitate people safely getting out, breaking up a couple fights, when suddenly, an individual pulled out a firearm and fired multiple rounds.”

Police had a heavy presence at the game. Officials also used metal detectors at the stadium, according to WBAL-TV. Investigators have not determined whether the victims or the shooter attended the football game.
Video from 22 The Point captured the tense scene during the interview. Players had talked about head coach Donta Green, who missed the game because of a work function. One player discussed how the team planned to keep its routine even without him.
The reporter then asked what Green might say after the win. Before anyone answered, people started running toward the exit.
The reporter grabbed the team’s trophy and told the camera, “We’re gonna… honor this win for Coach Green.”
The game had carried extra meaning for Westinghouse. The team entered Thursday’s game with a 4-0 record and beat a University Prep team that had won their previous meeting.
Senior Jordan Reid told the Post-Gazette before the shooting, “This one was real personal. I feel like they took it from us last year. They took our swag, so we had to get it back.”
Westinghouse improved to 5-0, but the shooting overshadowed the team’s big win. Police continue to investigate, and the male suspect remains at large.
