Blake Shelton has thanked the “best fans in the world” after being named the country artist of the year at the 2021 People’s Choice Awards.

The country star won the category which was voted for solely by fans, and was at the ceremony in person to accept his award.

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, best fans in the world!!! This award means so much to me because it came from y’all,” he later shared on social media.

Blake kept things casual in jeans and a shirt for the event, which took place on Tuesday at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, and celebrated the best in movies, television, music and pop culture.

Halle Berry was honored with The People’s Icon award, while Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson took home The People’s Champion award, and beauty mogul Kim Kardashian West picked up the Fashion Icon award. Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Christina Aguilera was honored with the first-ever Music Icon award.

Blake’s win comes after he released a deluxe edition of latest album Body Language which featured the hit new single Come Back As A Country Boy, which he also performed at the ceremony.

Blake was named the country artist of the year 

However the 45-year-old recently admitted that the “greatest gig” of his life was when he wed Gwen Stefani. During an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Blake opened up about his bond with his superstar wife and how much their marriage means to him.

When asked how they prepared for the wedding, Blake responded that he mostly let his wife take the reins on the big day and joked: “All I had to do was drink and kiss Gwen Stefani, my god.

“It’s the greatest gig I ever had!”

He performed Come Back As A Country Boy

Their big day was pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic but they decided to marry in a small and intimate ceremony in June with few family members.

Gwen, 51, was joined by sons Kingston, 14, Zuma, 12, and six-year-old Apollo, whom she welcomed during her marriage to Gavin Rossdale.
