A replacement for the departed Suzy Kolber has been announced, with The Athletic’s Richard Deitsch reporting that Scott Van Pelt is set to add ‘Monday Night Countdown’ to his ESPN duties.

A previous report from the New York Post’s Andrew Marchand noted that Van Pelt and Laura Rutledge were being considered as Kolber’s replacement following her release last month.

Kolber, who had been at the network for 27 years, was one of around 20 on-air talents laid off on June 30, having hosted the football show since 2014. Steve Young, who functioned as an analyst on the program, was also let go.

SVP is one of the longest-serving staffers at ESPN. He started at the network in 2001 and has since performed various roles, including hosting his own radio show and covering the four major PGA Tour events.

He has also been running the midnight iteration of SportsCenter on his own since 2015.

Meanwhile, ‘Monday Night Countdown’ has been around since 1993 providing coverage during the NFL season, previewing the Monday night game, hosting interviews with coaches and players while offering a review of the games taking place the previous day.
