Just how much is Aaron Rodgers appreciated by his new teammates in New York thus far? So much so to the point where cornerback Ahmad ‘Sauce’ Gardner went special lengths to provide him with a special gift.
The 2022 Defensive Rookie of the Year wears a slick chain that has the words “Sauce” as well as a bottle with the same word on it. Now it was Rodgers’ turn to enjoy his own special customized chain.
The Jets shared a video of Gardner presenting the four-time league MVP with a green and silver-colored chain that reads “8”, the number that Rodgers is wearing with his new team. A grateful Rodgers requests that Gardner put the necklace on him:
That’s certainly one of the coolest ways imaginable of welcoming a star like Rodgers to your team. Kudos to Gardner on such a classy gesture.
New York acquired Rodgers in a blockbuster trade with the Green Bay Packers ahead of this year’s draft. Rodgers actually contemplated retirement earlier in the offseason and signed up for a darkness retreat to help him decide on his playing future.
Rodgers joins a New York team that’s looking to end the longest active NFL playoff drought; he organization last qualified for the postseason back in 2010. They’ll open their 2023 season with a home contest against the Buffalo Bills on Monday, Sept. 11.
