Stephen A. Smith and Dak Prescott

You know we are getting close to the NFL season when Stephen A. Smith is having passionate discussions about the Dallas Cowboys.

Stephen A. Smith has positioned himself as Darth Vader in the eyes of Dak Prescott fans and Dallas Cowboys fans at large. He absolutely loves trolling the team and the fan base and this is despite him being very good friends with Jerry Jones.

After throwing 15 interceptions last year, tied with the Texans’ Davis Mills for the league high despite appearing in just 12 games, Smith is adamant that his era with the team has been a failure.

“It’s a failure,” Smith said.

In the Prescott era, the Cowboys have yet to advance past the divisional round of the playoffs and have only won two playoff games in the seven seasons that he’s been the quarterback.

Prescott is coming into a new season confident in his ability to protect the football under new offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, who takes over following Kellen Moore’s departure to the Chargers.

Protecting the football continues to be an issue for him.

Prescott hasn’t thrown fewer than 10 interceptions since the 2020 season, when he was picked off four times in just five games. When starting at least 12 games, the Cowboys QB has thrown double-digit interceptions in four of six seasons.

If he falters this year, his head coach will likely be fired and Jerry Jones may look to somebody else to be under center for the foreseeable future.
