The Colorado Buffaloes have reached an incredible milestone on social media thanks to their hot start to the season, but mostly thanks to the “Deion Sanders Effect.”

The Buffs are, by far, the most popular football program in America in 2023, with Coach Prime having opted to take over following a stint at Jackson State. The university’s stock has been trending upward since his appointment, and it continues to enjoy the immense benefits of having Sanders as a head coach, both on and off the field.

While the team is 4-2 after going 1-11 last season, merchandise sales are through the roof and out-of-state applications have gone up by over 40 percent while Boulder is raking in millions from home games.

NIL opportunities have also increased as Boulder has become the place to be. Both ‘College Football GameDay’ and ‘FOX Big Noon Kickoff’ have spent time there over the past few weeks – multiple celebrities have shown up too.

Colorado has experienced a huge boost on social media as well. Joe Pompliano points out via X that the Buffs now have over a million followers on Instagram. That’s certainly saying something when you consider that they only had 58,000 followers before Sanders came in.

They’ve now joined Alabama, Ohio State, and LSU as the only college football teams to have more than a million followers on said platform.

CU will play their seventh game of the season against Stanford Cardinal on Friday night.
