Suge Knight Makes Startling Claim About Deion Sanders & Death Row Records (VIDEO)

Suge Knight has made some interesting claims pertaining to Colorado head coach Deion Sanders.

Knight, who has been in prison since March on a manslaughter conviction, recently told The Daily Cannon Coach Prime was once signed to Death Row Records.

According to the Death Row co-founder, he spent over half a million dollars of his own money on the former superstar cornerback when he decided he wanted to be a rapper, gave fellow artists studio time, and paid producer Dallas Austin. 

Suge claimed that their relationship changed when Sanders came to him and asked to be switched to Interscope Records as he was associated with Nike and the sportswear brand didn’t want to be linked to a black-owned company.

“Deion Sanders – when Prime wanted to be a rapper, he said: ‘I want to be a rapper,’” Knight said. “I spent over half a million dollars of my own money. I put guys in the studio, I paid Dallas Austin, I did all these songs – did everything.

“Then one day he came to me and said, ‘Well, y’know, Prime deal with Nike and Death Row is a Black-owned company, and we don’t really want to deal with a Black-owned company. Even though you paid for everything and we signed to you, put us on the Interscope brand.’”

Suge said he still worked with Prime after the move to Jimmy Iovine’s label but never got any returns on his investment. 

Sanders released two albums, “Prime Time” in 1994 and “The Encore Remix” in 2005. The former actually made it to No. 70 on the Billboard Hip Hop chart and No. 13 on the US Heatseekers chart.
