There’s a new betting favorite to win 2023 NFL MVP honors.

Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes is trying to follow Aaron Rodgers’ footsteps by winning consecutive MVP awards. Mahomes won it last year, after Rodgers claimed the honors in back-to-back years.

At MyBookie, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback and 2022 league MVP runner-up Jalen Hurts is the new favorite with +370 odds. Miami Dolphins’ QB Tua Tagovailoa is a close second at +380, followed by Mahomes at +390.

The odds start to widen after those three, as Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (the 2019 league MVP) has the fourth-best odds at +570. Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen carries the fifth-highest odds at +1275.

The MVP award has gone to a quarterback every year since 2013, and it often goes to a quarterback on the best team. Consider that Matt Ryan is the last quarterback that won MVP honors (in 2016) on a team that didn’t finish as the No. 1 seed in its conference.

So chances are that the MVP honors will come down to the QB who leads his team to the best record in the NFL, or at least their own conference.

Hurts’ Eagles are sitting atop the NFC with a 7-1 record, thanks again to his world-class play. Hurts has completed 68.4 percent of his pass attempts for 2,140 yards, 13 touchdowns, eight interceptions to go along with six rushing scores.
