BREAKING: Fired Michigan Wolverines Coach Gets Hired By NFL Team

A former Michigan Wolverines football assistant coach, who was fired over his involvement in the program’s sign-stealing scandal, is getting a fresh start at the NFL level.

Per Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, former Michigan linebackers coach Chris Partridge has been hired as the Seattle Seahawks’ new outside linebackers coach. He’ll join the staff of Mike Macdonald, who accepted the Seahawks’ head coaching position earlier this month.

Seahawks officially announced 15 more assistants to their staff today. Some of these have already been reported. Some are new. These bring Seattle's assistant coaching staff to 23, which is the same as Seahawks had last year. Here are the coaches added today: pic.twitter.com/BfAr3UwLt5

Partridge was fired by the school back in November for allegedly destroying evidence of the Wolverines’ sign-stealing scandal. Head coach Jim Harbaugh was suspended for the team’s final three regular season games.

Despite the season-long distractions and Harbaugh’s brief absence, the Wolverines went undefeated and captured the program’s first national championship since 1997.

The 36-year-old Macdonald was the Wolverines’ defensive coordinator in 2021 after previously serving as an assistant under John Harbaugh in Baltimore. In 2022, the Ravens brought back Macdonald to replace Don “Wink” Martindale as the new DC.

Under Macdonald’s guidance, the Ravens defense finished third and first in scoring for the 2022 and 2023 seasons, respectively. He now has the tough task of replacing the legendary Pete Carroll, whom ownership “reassigned” to an advisory role after the regular season.
