A significant clue as to where USC quarterback Caleb Williams might end up has emerged following a certain coaching hire.

The Las Vegas Raiders are bringing in former Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury as an offensive coordinator under Antonio Pierce. The hire is thought to be a curious one as Kingsbury spent the 2023 season as the quarterbacks coach with USC, where he worked closely with Williams.

According to Colin Cowherd, both Williams and his dad are huge fans of Kingsbury and the move suggests Vegas could be in play where the Trojans star is concerned as they need a quarterback ahead of next season.

There are a few problems, though.

Firstly, the Chicago Bears hold the No. 1 overall pick while the Raiders won’t be drafting until No. 13, unless, of course, they trade up. Secondly, it doesn’t matter where Caleb wants to play, he doesn’t have any leverage here whatsoever.

Also, while the Bears might be open to trading their pick again, the Raiders simply don’t have the assets to put an attractive package together, while there are several other teams out there coveting the first-overall pick who could offer a lot better in exchange.

There’s always the option of dumping some salary and sending one or two players to Chicago along with some first-round draft picks. But it does look like a long shot at the moment.
