Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard are still out, but Milwaukee Bucks coach Doc Rivers is optimistic that they will recover in time to finish their Eastern Conference first-round series against the Indiana Pacers. The Bucks won Game 5 115-92 on Tuesday night, saving their season despite missing their top two players once more. Following the game, Rivers was asked if Antetokounmpo and Lillard would be available for the rest of the series.

After the game, Doc Rivers was interviewed and asked about the injury status of star players Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. In response, Rivers said that both players are very close to recovering and returning to the NBA.

“I don’t know how to answer that; I know, I hope. I think they’re very, very, very close.” Rivers said.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has not been able to play in the entire series

Giannis Antetokounmpo has not been able to play in the entire series due to a strained left calf injury. Damian Lillard also suffered an injury to his Achilles tendon last Friday after the Bucks lost 121-118 in overtime during Game 3.

The Bucks played Tuesday’s game without both players. The Pacers are currently leading the best-of-seven series 3-2, with Game 6 taking place on Thursday in Indianapolis. In the first quarter of Game 3, Lillard twisted his left knee. He went to the locker room and returned to the game, but later in the fourth quarter, he damaged his Achilles.

The Greek Freak did not play in the Bucks’ 126-113 Game 4 setback on Sunday. Antetokounmpo hasn’t played since he sprained his left calf while playing against the Boston Celtics on April 9.

During the third quarter of that game, Giannis had difficulty sprinting up the court after holding his left leg and sitting on the floor. He eventually had to leave the court and was later diagnosed with a muscle strain through an MRI.
