At the press conference, Dana White directed journalists to review Jones’ stats and has been criticizing the media both there and on social media.
Dana White Criticizes MMA Media and Defends Jones’ GOAT Status
Recently, Dana White took a humorous jab at the media regarding the pound-for-pound debate. After defending Jon Jones as the top fighter for weeks, White shared a video of a dog selecting Jones for the top spot in the rankings. On Instagram, White jokingly wrote, “dogs are smarter than MMA media.”
Islam Makhachev currently holds the top pound-for-pound spot, with the media determining the rankings. This has been a primary source of Dana White’s frustration on social media. Jon Jones is ranked third, behind Makhachev and Alex Pereira.
Jones will strive to reclaim the top spot upon his return. The rankings are rapidly changing due to strong performances from many fighters, and it remains to be seen whether Jones can regain the number one position.
