‘El Matador’ burst onto the UFC scene in 2020 like a hurricane. He tore through opponents with the subtlety of a sledgehammer. Six fights later, he snatched the crown from Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298. Now, fans might think Ilia Topuria would be chomping at the bit to face Conor McGregor. It’s the fight everyone dreams of, right? Well, hold onto your hats.

Topuria is not just turning down the idea but also serving up a cold dish of shade. He claimed McGregor was not worthy and now represented “alcohol and drugs” more than he did the sport. Moreover, he is confident that there are “bigger fights” out there for him.

“McGregor would be an option if I could fight him…but right now, I’m telling you that if they offered me a fight with him, I’d say no because there are bigger fights than him,” said Topuria via Ibai.

It’s a far cry from the days when Ilia Topuria idolized the Irish superstar. Now, he is the champion, and he calls the shots. He is undefeated and just dethroned one of the greatest featherweights ever. That’s no small feat.

His next opponent comes in the form of the ever-tough Max Holloway. This fight encapsulates the meaning of ‘ when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object.’ Ilia Topuria has never been defeated, and Max Holloway has never even been knocked down. UFC 307 will definitely showcase who will come out on top with the featherweight belt.

Ilia Topuria Challenges Conor McGregor For A Fight In The Streets Of Spain

El Matador,’ the undefeated champion, recently threw down the gauntlet. And this time, he took it beyond the octagon and straight to the streets of Spain. It all started when McGregor appeared at a BKFC Spain press conference. ‘The Notorious’ claimed he’d “slap the head off” the Georgian fighter and send him packing.

But Ilia Topuria wasn’t about to take that lying down. He fired back with a tweet of his own. He got straight to the point, asking McGregor to set a date and time so that they could scrap.

“Pinky toe! Welcome to my home. It’s great seeing you working for us! Come to Madrid, and we will see who slaps who. Topuria Knuckles for dinner !!!” said Topuria via X.

Ilia Topuria’s challenge was bold, to say the least. He called out one of the biggest names in UFC history. But this isn’t just about a potential fight, though. It’s a clash of generations, a changing of the guard.
