For a while now, Dana White has been loudly proclaiming Jon Jones as the greatest fighter to ever step into the octagon. However, it seems his rival, PFL boss Donn Davis, has a different opinion. Davis openly challenged Jones, calling him out to face his superstar—the winner of the upcoming bout between Francis Ngannou and Renan Ferreira.

There is no doubt that Donn Davis is as unfiltered as the sport itself. While speaking to the media ahead of PFL: Battle of the Giants in Saudi Arabia, featuring Ngannou vs. Ferreira, Davis mocked Dana White calling him afraid to book a PFL vs. UFC cross-promotional event.

On top of that, Davis said whoever comes out on top in Ngannou vs. Ferreira —deserves the crown as the best heavyweight on the planet, no matter who takes the win. And added if anyone wants to claim the top heavyweight spot, he needs to face the winner of the Ngannou vs. Ferreira fight, not someone in the UFC. He believes that while Jon Jones aims to build his legacy, the only thing standing in his way from fighting the winner of this match is the UFC itself.

In his words,, “Whoever wants to claim the No. 1 (heavyweight) spot goes through the winner of this fight, not through the UFC … I think Jon Jones wants to cement his legacy. There’s only one obstacle to that fight, and we know who that is.”

Francis Ngannou Accuses Jon Jones of Dodging Their Fight

While Davis is calling out Jon Jones to step into the ring, Ngannou claims that Jones has previously avoided their matchup. Dana White had earlier blamed Ngannou for the fight not happening, but the Cameroonian fighter explained his perspective, insisting that it was Jones who didn’t want to fight him, asserting that he was ready to go.

In his words, “So many times we sat down in a meeting and they were like: ‘Oh it can’t happen. Jon Jones doesn’t want to fight anymore.’… I think the guy who controls the narrative can say whatever he wants.”

This matchup has turned into a major “what if” scenario for fans. With Jones hinting at retirement next month after his fight with Stipe Miocic, it appears that fans may never get to see this dream bout.
