The UFC featherweight division is heating up as fight talks and callouts intensify ahead of the summer schedule. With rising contender Movsar Evloev struggling to secure an opponent for May 17th and his previously rumored bout with Brian Ortega still uncertain, the spotlight has shifted. In a surprising turn, former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling has thrown his name into the mix, calling for a rematch against Evloev.

Movsar Evloev is having a tough time locking in opponents, with his long-anticipated fight against Brian Ortega still in limbo. After waiting three months for the matchup to be finalized, Evloev has now been offered a new opponent for May 17th.

While the uncertainty around Ortega remains, Evloev isn’t sitting back. He’s made it clear he’s ready to fight anyone on that date, staying sharp and prepared for whoever steps up. His focus is on staying active and climbing the featherweight ranks.

Subsequently, Aljamain Sterling has stepped up and expressed interest in a rematch against Movsar Evloev. After suffering a loss to him at UFC 310, Sterling is eager to run it back and seek redemption. In his words, “Run it back? Maybe?

The former champion sees this as a chance to not only avenge the defeat but also reassert his presence in the division. With Evloev actively looking for a fight and Sterling ready for revenge, a high-stakes rematch could be on the horizon.

Evloev has remained unbeaten and continues to prove he’s one of the top contenders in the featherweight division. Many see him as the most deserving fighter for the next title shot. Diego Lopes, who is set to face Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 314, has shown interest in giving Evloev a chance at the belt if he becomes champion. Lopes has a past loss to Evloev and wants a rematch to even the score. For now, his focus stays on Volkanovski and winning the title.

If he does, a rematch with Evloev could be the perfect next step, giving Lopes a chance to prove himself against the undefeated standout who handed him a loss in the past.
