UFC fans have been eagerly waiting to see two of the best heavyweights, Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall, face off in the cage. The fight has been talked about for months, but with Jones now saying he needs at least six months to prepare, the bout is still far from happening. Meanwhile, Georges St-Pierre has stepped forward to offer Tom Aspinall some valuable advice, urging him to focus on the tasks at hand, given the uncertainty surrounding Jones’ return.

Talking to Ariel Helwani, GSP urged Aspinall to focus on his own goals instead of worrying about Jones’ return. Additionally, GSP pointed out that fixating on things outside of his control, like Jones’ comeback, wastes energy. He encouraged Aspinall to direct his attention to the challenges ahead, advising him to stay motivated by tasks he can influence and avoid distractions from external factors.

He said, “Tom should not focus on [Jon Jones’ return] because it’s outside of his control, and he’s waiting a lot. He’s wasting a lot of energy focusing on that, and I know it’s very hard, but you need to sort of self-hypnotize himself to focus on the next thing and be hungry about the next task.”

GSP mentioned that the fight between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall depends on whether Jones still has the motivation to compete at the highest level and if the UFC can offer him enough money for such a big match. He said as a fan, he would love to see the fight, calling it one of the most exciting heavyweight battles in recent years. GSP also praised Aspinall for his hunger and said it’s up to Jones to decide if he’s ready and if the UFC can meet his expectations.

Indeed, given Jones’ current attitude towards the fight, the chances of seeing Jon Jones face Tom Aspinall in the near future are becoming slimmer. However, if it does happen, it could very well be one of the best heavyweight matchups in recent times. Fans are still hopeful, but much depends on whether Jones regains the drive to make it a reality.
