Drakkar Klose Nearly Lost $50K UFC Bonus After Shouting Out Gambling Site
Dana White may support free speech, but he strictly enforces UFC rules. In December 2023, Drakkar Klose delivered a highlight-reel knockout slam against Joe Solecki, earning a $50,000 bonus on a night when $500,000 in performance awards were given out. However, Klose almost lost his bonus after shouting out a gambling site during his post-fight interview.
Talking to Red Hawk Recap YT, Klose said he almost lost his $50,000 UFC bonus after mentioning the gambling site Stake during a post-fight interview. He explained that the organization had warned fighters not to reference gambling sponsors, but he assumed it was allowed since the logo appeared on the mat. Subsequently, Klose was asked to write an apology letter. He also revealed that Skinny Bets paid him $10,000 for mentioning their name.
“Sh-t, I almost didn’t get my bonus when I had said Stake.com. I had to write an apology letter. Skinny Bets gave me $10,000 just for saying that. They weren’t going to give me the $50,000. At the fighters meeting they told me ‘don’t say anything about the gambling sites. I didn’t think it was a problem because it was on the mat…Stake.com,” he said
Despite the logo on the mat, fighters were warned not to mention gambling sites. Klose had to write an apology to keep his bonus.
Dana White Banned UFC Fighter For Lifetime

Paul Daley lost a one-sided fight to Josh Koscheck, who used his wrestling to control all three rounds. After the final bell, Daley threw a cheap punch at Koscheck, sparking outrage. UFC President Dana White responded by banning Daley for life, calling the act unacceptable for a professional athlete. White said Daley’s talent didn’t matter; he would never fight in the UFC again, no matter what he accomplished elsewhere.
It shows that while White allows fighters to express themselves freely, trash talk, mind games, and intense rivalries draw a hard line when a fighter crosses into outright disrespect or unsportsmanlike conduct. Paul Daley’s post-fight sucker punch wasn’t just a violation of rules; it was a violation of professionalism.
