Kodai Senga Injury Update: Mets Share Crucial News On Pitcher’s Return
New York Mets ace Kodai Senga suffered a hamstring strain while covering first base against the Washington Nationals. Senga was forced to leave the game, leaving Mets fans worried about their ace. Fans expressed their disappointment on social media and are eagerly waiting for his return.
The good news is that fans can breathe a cautious sigh of relief after an MRI revealed that Senga suffered only a Grade 1 hamstring strain. It turns out that it’s the least severe type of muscle injury. Manager Carlos Mendoza stated that there’s relatively good news on Senga.
Recently, Mets beat reporter Mike Puma said that Senga would be evaluated in two weeks.
“Senga has a Grade 1 hamstring strain. Least severe. Evaluate in two weeks,” Puma wrote.

That said, Kodai Senga could return to the Mets lineup sometime in late July. The 2025 MLB All-Star Game is set to take place on July 15. Senga would probably return after the All-Star game and stay healthy through the rest of the season.
New York Mets Are Expected To Take It Slow On Kodai Senga

Carlos Mendoza knows the importance of his pitcher. The Mets manager will take it slow by bringing him in. The good news is that Frankie Montas and Sean Manaea are preparing to return to the starting rotation.
Senga is the top pitcher in the Mets’ rotation. He’s also leading the National League with a stellar 1.47 ERA. In 73.2 innings pitched, he has 70 strikeouts and a strong 1.11 WHIP. It is safe to say that the Mets are doing fine as they sit on top of the NL East division.
The club is 3.5 games ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies, showing pure dominance. They are also leading the NL with their strong 45-26 record. However, Montas’ recent performance in Triple-A didn’t go well.
For now, Mets fans can take comfort in the fact that their ace’s injury is not as severe as initially feared. With a structured rehab plan, the team is optimistic that Kodai Senga will return soon.
