Kyle Kuzma is ready to take over No.0 for the Milwaukee Bucks next season. The same Number Damian Lillard wore during his short but eventful run with the franchise. The change comes just weeks after Lillard’s exit, which marks a symbolic shift as the Bucks move into a new era following two injury-wrecked seasons with the veteran guard.

Lillard’s time in Milwaukee has some memorable moments. He made a 39-point debut, had an NBA cup title, and two all-star appearances, but injuries ultimately derailed expectations. His Achilles tear during the 2025 playoffs ended the Bucks’ hopes and quickly led to changes in the roster.

Damian Lillard recently reacted to the jersey change with a calm and telling response. “If I send you this, just know I know where home is,” he captioned a picture of himself holding the jersey and shared that on his Instagram story. The move indicates he firmly acknowledged the decision while sitting in his next chapter in Portland.

With the Portland Trail Blazers on a three-year, $45 million deal, Lillard embraces a mentorship role with a promising young core. He is not expected to play until the 2026-27 season due to injury, but his legacy still holds weight, even as his old number finds a new shoulder on the Milwaukee Bucks.

During their two seasons together on the Milwaukee Bucks, Lillard recently reflected on his time with Giannis Antetokounmpo. He called it a great experience and praised Giannis for his talent and leadership on the court.

Damian Lillard appreciated having a teammate like Giannis, who could take over games, by saying it was a luxury to play alongside someone so dominant. “I thought it was a great experience, man,” Lillard said. “It was a great experience. I think more than anything, just the luxury of playing with a player as great as him. I’m playing with a dude where we can combine and beat anybody. As a tandem, we can go out here, and we can actually”

Despite strong regular-season records, the Bucks fell short in the playoffs. Lillard has since returned to Portland after being waived.
