Former Lakers Star Calls Out Luka Doncic For The Way He “Disrespected The NBA”
Luka Doncic is currently one of the premier athletes in the NBA. While he showcases remarkable skills and athleticism on the court, he has faced criticism related to his conditioning, on-court aggressiveness, and some of his statements.
Recently, he shut down all the criticism about his physique and conditioning with an impressive transformation during the offseason. However, criticisms regarding his past statements continue to linger in the league. Recently, former Los Angeles Lakers star Samaki Walker criticised Doncic for his disrespectful behaviour towards the NBA.
“I personally feel — and I love Luka offensively — but I feel like over the last few years, he disrespected the NBA because I follow him. He goes back to Europe and talks about how soft the NBA is, yet he doesn’t play any defense. You know what I’m saying? So, yeah, I take that personally.” Walker said during the recent appearance on the ‘Coach JB Show.’

Walker Offered Key Advice To Luka Doncic
During the discussion on the ‘Coach JB Show,’ Walker mentioned that the players’ focus on their legacy is gradually impacting defense in today’s games. He advised Doncic to distinguish himself from this behaviour and continue to embrace a competitive mentality.
“They are so immature in their approach that competition is lacking and taking a hit because of the immature approach to basketball. And that shouldn’t happen. And so, yeah, I wanna challenge this kid. I wanna see if he’s really about that on both ends of the floor, not just an offensive guy.” Walker said.
Doncic delivered an impressive performance for the Lakers during the 2024-25 NBA season. Despite his efforts, the Lakers fell short of securing the title and were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
