UFC Welterweight Star Claims Islam Makhachev’s Move To 170 Lbs Turned The Division Upside Down

Sean Brady is having trouble finding a fight with any of the top welterweight contenders. He’s also showing his frustration about Islam Makhachev’s move up to 170lbs. Brady thinks Makhachev’s move up has messed up the entire division and that everything’s on hold until he gets his title shot.
Meanwhile, Dana White has finally announced the fight between the former lightweight champion and Jack Della Maddalena. The iconic Madison Square Garden will host the welterweight title fight between Makhachev and JDM. But the welterweight contender thinks the division is stuck now because of Makhachev’s direct title shot, and he’s confused about how long Makhachev will actually stick around in the division.
“Islam coming up is what kind of f*** up this whole division, but you can’t be mad at him. I know he and Topuria are trying to set something up. If he wins, I think he stays at 170; if he loses, there’s a bigger chance of him going back to 155,” Brady explained on a recent episode of UFC Unfiltered.

Brady also thinks that if Makhachev wins at 170, he’ll only defend the belt once or twice before vacating it or retiring. But the Dagestani fighter is in for a tough fight against JDM, and many people believe it will be a 50/50 battle.
Islam Makhachev Unsure About Cutting Back To Lightweight

Makhachev is chasing history as he prepares for his welterweight debut against Jack Della Maddalena at Madison Square Garden. While fans are buzzing about a potential superfight with Ilia Topuria, Makhachev isn’t sure he’ll ever make it back down to lightweight.
“If after the fight I go up to 85 or 86 [kilos], then I’m not sure. Cutting down [to lightweight] was never easy, so we’ll have to sit down with the team and figure out what the next move is.” Makhachev stated at the Eagle FC press conference.

The former lightweight champ says he’ll sit down with his team to figure out the next move. Meanwhile, many believe he could be the one to finally stop Topuria’s undefeated run, but with doubts about returning to 155, that dream fight may never happen.
