Daniel Cormier Predicts Conor McGregor Will Return As Public Interest Fades
It has been more than four years since fans witnessed the man who propelled the sport of MMA onto the global stage. However, Conor McGregor appears primed for a return. Dana White and McGregor have said the White House card belongs to him. But in four years, fans have had the tease of a return, but never did. Many fans believe that he would not return. Daniel Cormier has a different opinion, and he shares his reasoning behind it becoming such a return.
During a recent episode of Good Guy/Bad Guy, Cormier said the reason for McGregor’s return is not to compete or test himself against the best. It was a tactical decision to have the focus of the public and the commercial side of MMA on him. The focus of a McGregor return will be to keep him relevant in the public eye and for his brand to stay attached to him while using his name and fame to stay in the public eye.
“I think the biggest factor in why Conor McGregor will fight is because no one believes him anymore, and some of that shine is starting to wear off. It doesn’t have to be a big win; it just has to be a win or a fight that propels him into the spotlight,” he said.

Cormier mentioned that he believes the excitement surrounding McGregor has faded, but if he steps in the octagon, it would bring back that excitement. Indeed, McGregor needs a win or a good performance. It does not take a noteworthy victory to establish excitement and to remain relevant in the sport.
Conor McGregor Shares His Predictions For His Comeback Bout
Bringing back the old Mystic Mac, McGregor said: “KO win, first round. UFC White House.” He has a track record of bold, seemingly precise predictions, including quick finishes over Jose Aldo, Eddie Alvarez, and Dustin Poirier. Notably, McGregor already has 14 first-round KOs.

Meanwhile, he was previously scheduled to return at UFC 303, but his plans changed when he broke his toe. Now, seeing White’s confidence, it seems he will return to the cage at June’s 2026 card, marking his first fight since UFC 262 in 2021.
